# Best data enrichment tools and providers (2026): what we use, and the alternatives

Data enrichment adds missing information to a lead or account record: work email, phone, title, company size, tech stack, and more. No single provider has the best data for every market, so the strongest setups run several providers in a waterfall and verify every email before it is used.

Below is the enrichment stack OneGTM runs for clients today, followed by the other tools worth knowing, with what each costs. We use the first group in production. Some links are referral links that may earn us a credit, which never changes what you pay or who is listed.

By [Garrett Wolfe](https://garrettawolfe.com), founder of OneGTM (Clay Artisan Solutions Partner) and former GTM engineer at Unify. Updated November 1, 2026.

Key takeaways

- Use a waterfall. Querying several providers in sequence finds far more emails than any single database.
- Our default stack is Deepline to orchestrate, with LeadMagic and AI Ark among the providers underneath.
- All-in-one databases like Apollo, ZoomInfo, and Cognism are simpler to buy but give you one provider's coverage. That tradeoff is the core of [Clay vs ZoomInfo](https://getaob.com/clay-vs-zoominfo).
- Verify every address before sending. A found email is not a confirmed one, and bounces hurt your domain.

## How to choose a data enrichment tool

- **Coverage in your market.** Test 100 of your own target contacts in two or three tools before you commit. Coverage varies a lot by region, seniority, and industry.
- **One provider or a waterfall.** Single databases are simpler. Waterfalls find more emails because each provider fills gaps the others miss. [What is waterfall enrichment?](https://getaob.com/gtm-glossary#waterfall-enrichment)
- **Verification built in.** Make sure results are verified, and decide how to handle [catch-all addresses](https://getaob.com/gtm-glossary#catch-all-email).
- **How it fits your stack.** No-code teams do well with Clay. Teams with a technical owner save money with an API like Deepline called from code. We compare the two in [Clay vs Deepline](https://getaob.com/clay-vs-deepline).
- **Pricing model.** Per credit, per seat, or flat rate. Flat-rate APIs win at high volume; credits win when volume is uneven.

## How OneGTM runs enrichment for clients

A typical build pulls accounts from several sources, dedupes them against the CRM, and then enriches contacts through a waterfall: the cheapest reliable provider first, then others only when the first misses. Every email is verified before it reaches a sequencer, and results sync back to the CRM.

We build this in Clay when the client's team wants to see and edit the workflow, and in code with [Claude Code](https://getaob.com/claude-code-gtm) and Deepline when cost at volume matters more. If you want this built and run for you, see [our Clay agency work](https://getaob.com/clay-agency).

## When it makes sense to get help with enrichment

Signing up for an enrichment tool takes five minutes. Getting good data out of it takes longer. Most teams we talk to have a tool already and are still dealing with low match rates, credits that run out mid-month, bounces from unverified emails, or a Clay table only one person understands.

The hard part is the system around the tool: which providers to run in what order for your market, how to verify and dedupe, and how results land in the CRM without overwriting good data. That is the part OneGTM builds and runs.

- Your match rate on target contacts is below 60 percent.
- Credits or provider bills are growing faster than pipeline.
- Bounce rates on cold email are creeping above 2 percent.
- Nobody on the team owns the enrichment workflow day to day.

## Data enrichment providers vs. data enrichment platforms

The market splits into two layers, and most teams need one of each. **Data enrichment providers** (sometimes called data enrichment companies or vendors) own or license the data: Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism, Lusha, and LeadMagic sell contacts, emails, phones, and firmographics from their own databases. **Data enrichment platforms** sit on top of many providers and run a waterfall: Deepline, Clay, FullEnrich, and BetterContact query provider after provider until one returns a verified result.

A single provider is simpler and is fine for one use case, such as emails for a sales team in one region. A platform finds more because no single database covers everyone, and coverage gaps differ by country, industry, and seniority. This page is about B2B company and contact data. Product data enrichment, which fills in ecommerce catalog attributes for a product information system, is a different category with different vendors.

| | Data enrichment provider | Data enrichment platform |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it is | A company with its own contact and company database | A layer that queries many providers in sequence |
| Examples on this page | Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism, Lusha, LeadMagic | Deepline, Clay, FullEnrich, BetterContact |
| Coverage | Limited to one database | Usually higher, since misses fall through to the next source |
| Best for | One clear use case and a simple budget | Lists across countries, roles, and data types |

## Data enrichment tools FAQ

### What is the best data enrichment tool?

There is no single best tool, because coverage depends on your market. For most B2B teams the best results come from a waterfall that runs several providers in sequence, orchestrated by Clay or a data API like Deepline. If you want one simple database, Apollo is the common starting point for small teams and ZoomInfo or Cognism for larger ones.

### What is data enrichment?

Data enrichment is adding missing information to a lead or account record, such as a work email, phone number, job title, company size, industry, or tech stack, by looking it up in one or more data providers.

### What is waterfall enrichment?

Waterfall enrichment queries several data providers one after another until one returns a result, so you get higher coverage and only pay the extra providers when the first one misses. Clay, Deepline, FullEnrich, and BetterContact all work this way.

### What does OneGTM use for data enrichment?

OneGTM builds enrichment with Deepline as the orchestration layer (Clay when the team already runs it) and providers such as LeadMagic and AI Ark underneath, plus email verification before anything is sent. The exact mix depends on the client's market and budget.

### How much do data enrichment tools cost?

Self-serve tools start around $15 to $100 a month for a few thousand credits, flat-rate APIs run about $400 to $600 a month, and enterprise databases like ZoomInfo and Cognism are sold by quote. Prices on this page come from each vendor's site as of October 2026.

### Do I still need to verify emails after enrichment?

Yes. A found email is a best match, not a confirmed mailbox. Verify every address before sending, treat invalid results as dead, and handle catch-all addresses carefully to keep bounce rates low.

### Should I hire an agency to set up data enrichment?

If you have someone technical who can own it, you can build a good waterfall yourself with Clay or an API. Teams usually bring in help when match rates are low, costs are climbing, or no one has time to maintain the workflow. OneGTM builds and runs enrichment inside your own accounts, so you keep everything if you take it in house later.

### What is the difference between a data enrichment provider and a data enrichment platform?

A data enrichment provider such as Apollo, ZoomInfo, or LeadMagic sells data from its own database. A data enrichment platform such as Deepline, Clay, or FullEnrich queries many providers in a waterfall and returns the first verified result, which usually finds more contacts than any single provider.

### Is B2B data enrichment the same as product data enrichment?

No. B2B data enrichment adds company and contact details such as emails, phones, headcount, and industry to CRM records. Product data enrichment fills in ecommerce product attributes for a catalog or product information system, and uses a different set of vendors.

### What are the best data enrichment tools for B2B?

For a waterfall across many providers, Deepline or Clay. For single-source contact data, Apollo, ZoomInfo, and Cognism. For verified emails and mobiles, LeadMagic, Prospeo, and FullEnrich. OneGTM runs enrichment through Deepline with several providers behind it and verifies every email.
